Before joining Investec, Will spent over a decade with HSBC and specialises in managing investment portfolios whilst working with clients and their advisors to minimise their current tax exposure and plan for the succession of family wealth.

I deal with all aspects of administration and enjoy liaising directly with both clients and financial advisers on a daily basis, to provide a high level of service.

Joe is an investment director in our Liverpool office and a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments with 20 years' financial industry experience. Joe attained his CISI Diploma in 2011 and works closely in a team with investment director - Brian Kenny, managing private client, trust and charity assets valued in excess of £200m.
David Bassett

David began his career in 1996 as an assistant investment manager at Fleming Private Asset Management prior to a takeover by JPMorgan. He moved to Rathbones in March 2001 before teaming up with Randolph Churchill in February 2003 as an investment manager. David graduated with a 2.1 in Business Studies from the Business School at Kingston University in 1995. He then completed the Investment Advice Certificate and subsequently the Securities Institute Diploma in 2001 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
Alexander Gudiens

Alex is a Chartered Financial Planner, a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and also holds the Investment Management Certificate (CFA). He joined Rathbones in 2019 and has significant knowledge and experience in providing the advice and direction which enables clients to meet their financial goals. Alex helps on a broad range of areas including investment structuring, wealth preservation, retirement planning and legacy planning.
Susan Gallo-Traill

Susan joined Rathbones in 2014 and works as an investment manager's assistant to Tim Johnson. She has many years’ experience in the financial services industry, in particular within client services. Susan has an in depth knowledge of the team’s clients and provides a high level of administration support to them and the team.

Amelia Bell

Amelia joined Rathbones in June 2019, having previously worked at Russell-Cooke LLP in their private client cross-border team. Amelia advises on all aspects of private client law including drafting and advising trusts, tax planning and advice, succession planning including drafting of complex wills, powers of attorney, and estate administration (including those with an international aspect). Amelia has a particular interest in art and heritage assets and has advised on the acceptance in lieu scheme for an estate. Amelia holds a Masters in Art, Business and Law.
Michael Matthews

I am responsible for working with clients and their advisers to create investment portfolios to suit their individual requirements. This covers private wealth structures ranging from pension and retirement assets to offshore bonds, family trusts and investment companies. Portfolios are constructed using a range of assets making use of available internal and external research. As a member of the Equity Collective Fund Selection Committee, I optimise using this to enhance the portfolio solutions I create.
Kerry Shaw

Kerry joined Rathbones in 2014, having previously joined Rooper & Whately in 2013. Kerry trained with a Surrey based Legal 500 Firm of solicitors, qualifying in 2013. Kerry advises on all aspects of private client law including Wills, tax and estate planning, domicile, powers of attorney and the establishment of trusts in lifetime and on death. She also deals with all aspects of the administration of estates, including estates with international considerations. Kerry is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
Jaclyn King-Gibson

Jaclyn began her investment career at Rathbones in 2004 and has worked in a smaller companies investment team that covers AIM traded EIS and Business Relief investments since 2006. She has been awarded the Private Client Investment Advice Diploma, EIS Diploma and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
James Goodhew

James Goodhew joined the Private Client department of Rathbones in 2004 as a graduate trainee and is now an Investment Director responsible for over £500m of client portfolios. James is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, won the Wealth Management Association award for achieving a top Distinction in the Private Client Diploma Examination in 2006, was named one of PAM’s ‘Top 40 under 40’ in 2022 and most recently featured in the Spear’s Wealth Management top high net worth advisors in 2024.
