About
Mark Walsh
Mark is a Senior Investment Director at Rathbones and a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute (CISI). He works with private clients and high-net-worth individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. Mark’s role is to get to know the individual, identify the financial goals important to them, and create a long-term strategy to achieve this. Mark maintains a trusted, ongoing client relationship through the entire financial journey, to ensure the success of the investment strategy.
Mark joined Rathbones, previously Investec, in 2012. He holds the CISI Masters in Wealth Management, Financial Planning and Advice Certificate, and a First Class honours degree in Business Management.
Mark’s ultimate objective is to achieve the client’s financial goals while removing financial stress and burden from the individual. To simplify matters for them, make the strategy clear and provide reassurance that their long-term requirements are being met. Regular updates and annual meetings ensure the client always feels in control, but never overwhelmed by the detail.
Investment strategies commonly include providing immediate income in retirement or maximising capital growth to ensure funds are available later in life. There is much more to creating a financial plan than simply an investment portfolio. Tax planning, utilising pensions, ISAs, trusts, FICs and other financial wrappers, plays a key part in achieving objectives in the most tax-efficient way. Structuring a client's wealth effectively and making full use of available allowances can be highly beneficial for achieving financial goals today and providing for the future. Where appropriate, Mark works with financial advisers, solicitors, and accountants to provide specialist advice in all these areas.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and keeping fit. He plays tennis and padel, enjoys swimming, and is a keen football, rugby, and Formula 1 fan.
